Just want to share this Experience as a starting musician in Tabuk in the 90s...with love, aspiration plus Tured ken PR(hehe)wanting to play our kind of music, Dagupan has a lot more to offer for musicians moreover they have good bands playing at Peter Pot and garden that time. Me and jordan had been talking abt forming a band. He was in college and me in high school. we spent a lot of the bakasyon listening and sharing abt heavy metal music. After highschool, election period was on also our debut, opening for a politician, dont remember who it was, We played "Never say goodbye" by Bon jovi, just the 3 of us, me, jordan and ron. hehehehe. inya kanu diay? na-shock da.hehe
Then Rhett joined the band on vocals and the late Mario for the drums,Sammy was our security(hehehe) who is wanting to learn keyboards so he can join us but he became a famous muscleman instead. Rhett called our band "knights" he just got off from the academy that time, ninayunan mi lang ti Street so our band was called"The street knights".hehe
We do a lot of our band practice at rhett uncle's house near the prov jail, so we got our first howling, boos, yeahs, stomping, grill beating, clapping and whatever u call it when you hear something u never heard before. It was coming from the jail, hehe. We just laughed and continued playing. It was unforgettable for me when one guy arrived, might be one of the uncles and said, Kasla kayo "YAYAS" and starts gigling!! hehehe we laughed out load.
We were Practicing so hard to attack dagupan with the bulanao style heavy metal, hehe. Augustus Magus was an inspiration too, We were so shy to play whenever we hear chawkas is watching.hehe Eventually came our First gig, Peter pot was full, First song,ok lang, 3 songs-4 nga table nabati, last song maymaysa nga table ti nabati ta taga baguio diay agbuybuya, hehe plus dagidiay makinbagi. hehehe. after the set,jam bassit tapos time to go home..oooops. 12midnight,we had our Amps with us and guitars, awan pagluganan, we dont want to stay in dagupan, we have our pride, hehe we were like vendors walking the street selling guitars and amps in the middle of the night ,hehe Luckily everytime we reached magsaysay, There was always a good samaritan, sometimes drunk driving on his way to bulanao,so we thanked them for the ride, Always end up going to jordans house to eat some sweet porridge. it happened like thrice, just for the love of music, We are willing to walk a mile. We then realized our band was called the "Street knights" in other words "We walk the Streets at Night!" hehe But Wishing that we can still walk our streets all the time, safe and sound these days. And the music lives on...

We have KALINGAS in some of the GENRES..
We should be proud that we have in Kalinga one of the best Reggae vocalist in the country if you ever know that. his band is one of the best reggae band ever played, If you heard about multi-media artist CHARLES WANDAG a.k.a BADJAO of BADJAO ROOTS, he is the one. he is even a native of Taloktok, Tanudan and a SWA alumni kung saan ako nga first year, hehe. Am proud of that! i heard there EP album is coming out next month that includes there song Kalinga Dreadlock Rastaman, and I am excited for that let us support our kailyan in the music industry..isu na sa pay ti immuna nga kailyan to hit manila scene and got the respect!! i heard he is in the US now.
Maysa pay nga taga Taloktok ket ni ATTY CRIS DONAAL who just released their first album, the group is called PE'TUNE(Rock-world Music) although most of the songs are in mt.prov dialects since its where his mom is from and most of the guys, we are so proud of him!! adda gayam dua nga taga Kalinga ni MR.BALAWAN,didnt get his first name, nga taga Mallango, kabsat ni JONES BALAWAN, the vocalist for the famous revelation in Baguio and MR. ALEX TUMAPANG of dacalan who also known for his mastery of traditional kalinga instruments and been playing with lots of Artist like GRACE NONO. Atty cris also is the main vocalist for the group DALUYON.
ARNEL and EDGAR BANASAN from Pasil,(World,Ethnic Music)they both have released their albums and we heard a lot of them in kalinga especially for Arnels album thats been played on the radio quite sometime, these guys have been playing around the world also like Japan and china. I know they have this group before called SALIW.
SIR BENNY SOCCONG of Tanglag, Lubuagan. (World/Ethnic Music)He had been teaching traditional music in UP diliman. i dont know if they ever released a Cd but i am hoping there is one. his group have been touring the world for their music and also does workshop.
For country Music, we have a lot of them and we are proud we have the best in baguio also, so sad we lost one of the veteran last january,The Late MARVIN TABBANG. I dont know if his brother DENNIS is still playing. They are also a mestizo of Taloktok and Magnao. I think most of the big bars in baguio, its either one of the band members has kalinga blood, sarap makapanuod ng kailyan! my friend invited me once before sa baguio and I was glad to meet MS KYNA BAYANGAN and even amazed to know she is from Lubo, kalinga. grabe ti taga Tanudan ah,hehe!kitan yu..We are proud to know people in this field nga mang ammuan ti tattao nga ti taga kalinga ket han lang nga warrior or into tribal wars but also well known in one of the Best pool in the Arts!! Matago tako losan!!
Siempre diay tabuk, nagadu da met and you know who they are, name them here. tapnu ammu mi met a ditoy ruar, hehe.thanks!
Nu adda pay ti am-amu yu ket i-post tayo and someday we get to the cities, intayo met bisitaen isuda ngem ragsak lang awan gulo, hehe!! paki correct metten nu ada mali diay inputs ko or you can add up.Inayun yu dagidaiy dadduma nga Artist nga am-ammu yu. Matago-tago tako losan!!
Even as the global downturn has forced itself into our lives. Even as the swine flu pandemic has caused innermost global terror. Our happiness must remain. Be cheerful and let's smile all those problems away. Cheerssssssss!!!!!!!
